How can I make a contact shortcut?

Go into your contact list and then click on the person you want to add as a favorite and you should see an add to favorites button underneath their name.

DO you get a screen that looks like this?EEdit: I just got home to my iPod touch and no longer see that as an option. I checked in contacts, FaceTime and under do not disturb.

I edited my last post, when I got home and checked on my iPod touch I didn't see a way to add it. I checked in messages, FaceTime, contacts and do not disturb. I looks like you can no longer add favorites on an iPod touch.
